Venue Considerations

The available space for my setup is crucial. Beaumanor Hall has areas that vary in size and configuration, so I always recommend discussing the specific location for my DJ station early on. The sloping walls of the tipi can impact sound distribution, so it’s important to ensure proper placement to avoid any acoustic issues. I typically need about 2m x 3m for my setup, allowing ample room for my equipment while keeping the dance area free for your guests.

Sound and Power Management

Power availability is another key factor. I usually check to see if there are sufficient power outlets near my setup area and what the venue’s policy is regarding sound limiters. Some venues impose strict noise restrictions, which might influence the type of music and volume I can provide. It’s always advisable to touch base regarding potential curfews and any restrictions that could affect the flow of the evening.

When it comes to music, I take a personalised approach. You can share up to 25 must-play songs and 25 I should avoid, giving me a solid understanding of your preferences. On the night, I’ll read the crowd, and while I do consider guest requests, I can’t promise I’ll play every suggestion.
