Toby and April held their wedding reception at The Cosy Club in Nottingham. I provided my Premier evening dj service for the full evening, with no additional extras requested. From start to finish, the night reflected their personalities through a thoughtful and lively music selection.
A night of energy and real moments
I arrived to set up at 6:00 pm while guests enjoyed drinks downstairs. The Cosy Club team quickly turned around the Imperial Room, ready for the evening ahead. At 7:10 pm, Toby and April entered the room as Mr and Mrs Thompson, heading straight into the cake cutting before their first dance.
The chosen track was an acoustic version of A Little Respect by Erasure, performed by Shannon and Keast. This stripped-back version, which you can listen to on YouTube, created a calm and intimate moment before the tempo began to rise.
Throughout the night, we moved between early 2000s pop-punk, classic floor-fillers, and plenty of singalong anthems. April’s request list featured tracks like “Still Into You”, “Lover”, and “Hot To Go!”, while guests shouted along to “Mr. Brightside” and “Teenage Dirtbag”. The buffet at 8:30 pm gave everyone a quick breather, but the dancefloor stayed active throughout.
Since many guests had young children, we had a plan to wind things down early if needed. However, the vibe remained steady until the last track at 11:45 pm. After one final cheer, I packed down and said my goodbyes by midnight.
